Sompal becomes the only Nepali cricketer to play two World Cups

Sompal Kami is going to become the only player from Nepal to play in two World Cups after being included in the final squad announced by the Nepali National Cricket Team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 starting next month.

Sompal represented Nepal in the T20 World Cup held in Bangladesh in 2014. He, who was the youngest member of the team at that time, will play the role of the most experienced player this time. Sompal is still performing the responsibility of the team's main bowler.

Sompal becomes the only Nepali cricketer to play two World Cups

Nepal played its first T20 international match in its cricket history against Hong Kong in the 2014 World Cup. In that match, Sompal took 2 wickets by spending 13 runs in 3 overs. Nepal also created history by registering victory in the first match of the World Cup.

Till now Nepal has played 85 T20I matches and Sompal has played 65 of them. Meanwhile, due to injury, Sompal remained out of the team for some time. He missed the 2022 World Cup qualification and has been playing regularly ever since.

Sompal has taken 58 wickets in 65 matches. In the role of a strike bowler, he has bowled in the powerplay but his economy rate has been limited to 7.19. In terms of batting, he has scored 315 runs in 38 innings.
